Greater Works

Greater Works

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father." (John 14:12 NKJV)

Wherever you are in life, that is where your ministry is for that moment. It is your place of influence. Jesus' life was His ministry. He calls us to do greater works than what He did on the earth through the help of Holy Spirit, whom He sent in place of Himself. The Creator of all of existence has decreed His archetype to do greater works than what He Himself did. Genesis 1:26 shows us the prototype-archetype relationship between God and humanity. As the archetype, we are an original that has been imitated, according to the dictionary definition.

While Jesus was on the earth, he ate with the sinners and tax collectors, and through His influence, transformed their lives. He was in the world while being not of this world. Jesus spoke and the demons fled. His presence alone made the principalities and powers of darkness tremble and fear. His presence alone drew the crowds to Him.

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you." (John 14:26 NKJV)

Through the cross, we have been given the transference of authority and through the Holy Spirit, we have been given the power of the Creator Himself over Heaven, Earth, and everything under the Earth.

The words we speak, the actions we commit, have authority in every situation that we are in. Death and life are in the power of the tongue and we eat the fruit according to what we speak (Proverbs 18:21). For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [a]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)

In the First Century church, we see radical miracles where Peter's shadow (Acts 5:15) and Paul's handkerchief (Acts 19:12) brought healing and restoration to those who were touched by it.

In the 19th Century, we see people like Maria Woodworth-Etter. The power of the Holy Spirit overflowed through her so much, that anyone in a 10 mile radius would come under the power of the Holy Spirit. Each of those people were put in a trance and came the tent revival meetings and got healed and saved.(https://www.revival-library.org/revival_heroes/20th_century/woodworth_etter_maria.shtml)

Then in the 20th Century, we see the Welsh Revival, the Azusa Street Revival, and many other revivals that broke out through the Holy Spirit being poured out.

One thing that is noticeable is that as each generation comes along, the works of the Holy Spirit through humanity is done in even greater measure than the previous.
